Teaching your children to pray is also teaching them to grow spiritually. In these times when fewer and fewer children go to church, the best thing for parents to do is teach them the value of prayer from their home.

The spiritual teaching behind prayers is not the only thing that children will learn. In teaching your children to pray, they will be able to understand that:

1. They are important to God.

Since they are also his creation, your children would understand that they are not apart from any adult or anyone in the world. They will realize that God loves them and they are important to him. They can show their appreciation by learning to pray.

2. As young as they are, they already have a role to play in the community.

In teaching your children to pray, they will also learn about the purpose that God have for them. By knowing that purpose, they will have an idea how they can go about doing what is expected of them even if they are still children.

One of the challenges that parents encounter in teaching children to pray is the need to encourage them. Oftentimes, they are too busy with other things during the day. At night, they are already too tired to even utter one before going to sleep.

There are also distractions from outside factors. Influence from society is one thing. In the world where modern technology is taking over a lot of things, children’s beliefs are effected by what they see on TV or from books that they read. Most of the time, they would consider these things as reason to question the need for their parents to teach them about prayers and about praying.

As parents, how can you face these challenges and be successful in teaching your children to pray?

1. Prayer as conversation.

This is one way of including God in your children’s everyday conversation. Teach your children to pray to God as if it is just an ordinary part of their conversation. Things like, “Please make my puppy well” is one form of a prayer.

When your children get used to this, you will find that praying will come naturally for them. It would not become something that they are forced to do. they will have the initiative to start praying whenever they want to talk to God.

2. Prayer before and after meals.

One of the best times to teach your children to pray is before and after meals. You know why? Because this is when you are together as a family. No other people and no distractions.

During this time, tell them that god is the sole provider of the things that they have, even their food. So it is important that they should be grateful and remember him before and after they receive his gifts.

3. Praying as a habit the whole family can do together.

Praying together should not only be done during meal times or before sleeping. You can initiate prayers whenever you feel that you and the whole family need them.

This will teach your child that praying does not need a specific time. And that wherever and whenever, God is always waiting to hear from them through prayers.

Teaching children to pray is every parent’s responsibility. This is the best way of getting them close to the whole family and closer to God.

An excellent education that is accessible to many brings forth a bright future and a stable economy for the society. By molding children to become literate and dependable individuals, a good education can guarantee that a child will learn how to critically judge the future challenges that will come their way. With the security of knowledge, they will be able to lead others and maintain or possibly expand a country’s economy.

With a good educational foundation, children can then have the luxury of qualifying to better schools of higher education. They can choose any profession they want. A good education is also a good ticket away from poverty. A child armed with it can reach his goals in life and possibly can give his children brighter future.

Compared to past decades, many more children today started their formal education at an early age. It has become an obsession that even at toddlerhood the child must be given all the things that will enhance his interest in learning. There are even food products today that claim that they can boost your child’s intelligence, and, more surprisingly, even IQ boosters are available in the market for babies that are still lounging in their mother’s womb.

Even certain genres of music, Mozart’s musical masterpieces for instance, are said to be capable of improving anybody’s brain acuity. The focus now is how to get your children be smarter than everybody else. Education has always been viewed as a gateway to success. And to get a high quality education, parents must be aware of his or her child’s educational needs.

In today’s “smart child” fad, more schools have raised the bar in quality education. Parents now push their children to go to school at the young age of 3 or 4. Though starting early doesn’t always mean success. The child’s learning must be in tempo with his cognitive, psychosocial, and physical development. Too much pressure to academically succeed, at a young age, will only cause your child large amounts of stress.

Though the standard of introduction of learning is believed to start in pre-schools and kindergartens, it does not mean that the family’s role in a child’s early education has reduced. With children under five years of age, parents play a central role in their early lives. Thus it is the parents who are the child’s first teachers. The educational background of parents, as studies have shown, are said to have an effect on their child’s eagerness to learn. Parents who are well-educated tend to put emphasis on the benefits of education. The parents are not only the first teachers of their children, but they are also their role model.

But in choosing the right school that will educate your child in his early years, you must be aware about the school’s facilities and teaching strategies. Qualities of a good school should include teachers with a good educational background and a constant update in new effective teaching plans; programs that includes parent involvement teaching; high teacher-student proportions; and a holistic emphasis on the child’s learning development (enhancement of cognitive, psychosocial, and physical skills).

To achieve a child’s full potential, be it in the academic field or everyday life, parents and teachers must help together in molding the child’s well-being. After all, the future of this world is in their hands.

Children’s learning software is one of best thing in the use of computer. Since children of today spend more time in front of their computers, parents can introduce them to this children’s learning software to make the most of the time that would have been for PC games or Internet.

The many children’s learning software out there is making it hard for parents to decide on which one they should get their kids.

If you find yourself in this situation, here are some advices that will help you in the selection of children’s learning software to get for your children.

1. “Fun factor”.

Even if you have gotten the best and the most expensive in the market, but your kids do not think it is fun, then all your efforts and all these factors are considered worthless. For your kids to like the children’s learning software, make sure that it is fun and that your kids will like it.

How do you do this? By getting firsthand information about the software you have chosen. You can do this by checking out some reviews regarding that software. You will be able to find them in stores or online.

If you know someone that is using that children’s learning software, you can ask them for feedback. Inquire how the children are getting on with the software. If the kids love them, then your kids will probably do too.

2. The educational content.

The concept of fun should be associated with the concept of how educational the children’s learning software is. Many of this software explain the kinds of programs that it can give to children. You surely want something that will have variety of skills being taught in the program.

You also need to make sure that the children’s learning software is suited for your children. Different software cater to the different ages and stages that children are into. You need to get the one that will be perfect for your children.

Check out the labels or introduction in the software if you are not sure what they cater to. Or you can always ask the manufacturer or someone that has intensive knowledge about the children’s learning software.

3. Relevant and important features.

It is best to choose the children’s learning software that is not hard to install and understand and has useful features that your children can use.

Choose one that has the capability of printing or saving the activity that your children have been doing. This will give your children the chance to get back on what they have done or have a copy of them to bring and study even if they are not in front of their computers.

Moreover, find a software that has clear and lively graphics along with easy to understand pages. The sound quality is also a consideration. Make sure that the software offer these things.

4. The issue of cost.

There are expensive children’s learning software that does not really have much of a value compared to those that you can buy for a cheaper price.

You need to be aware of these things so you will not end up paying for one that does not meet any of your standards.

Once you have all these factors considered, you will be able to buy your children the perfect children’s learning software there is. So do not be too hasty and consider these things first before buying one.

According to United States senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, “When you teach children to read, you give them one of life’s greatest gifts.”

It is relatively true, for reading is considered to be the key to unlock the door and be exposed to the world of written word, which can provide that unlimited opportunities for learning and development. You can not understand the thought of this article if you do not know how to read. You can not fill up a resume and apply for a job if you do not understand the entries the form asking you to enter. You can not join the world of business venture if you do not know how to read and understand the rules.

In other words, being unable to read is like living the world with no direction.

However, there are still children out there who do not know how to read. Plenty of children, especially on the farm areas, do not have any access to books at their early age. They grow without seeing any books because of their poverty. Instead of purchasing books, their parents opt to buy bread and wheat for your food needs. There are also parents who themselves do not know how to read, thus they can not teach their children how to read. Though they also want to learn such skills, but they are hindered by poverty and difficulty in life.

Do not let such things happen to your children. Give some of your time to your children and teach them to read. Teaching them at an early age will break such cycle. Keep in mind that readers at an early age have the high opportunity of succeeding academically with careers that they have chosen.

Reading is loved by children in nature. Once they learn how to read, they will enjoy the contents of children’s books, the ideas presented on children’s stories and they will enjoy their studies so much at the same time. It is the foundation of effective learning and excellent reading skills can lead to proficiency in essential school subjects such as mathematics and science.

There are possible ways you can teach your child to read. One of the best moments to teach them is after your dinner. You can have an alphabet book so that they can learn the correct pronunciation of each letter. Once they already master the alphabet, you can now teach them how to read words, and later sentences.

Once they know how to read sentences, you can not teach them how to understand a certain selection, such as short stories or poems. Keep in mind that along teaching your children how to read, you must also remind them to understand what they are reading. Reading without understanding is as good as saying that they still do not know how to read.

Purchase children’s books for them, and start creating a personal library. Encourage them to bring their playmates and have your reading sessions during weekends. It can be of great help in developing their reading skills further and excelling on different subject matters.

Teaching your children how to read is probably the most wonderful gift you ca give to them-a gift that they can use and does not fade even you are already gone.

Of course you wouldn’t think of having fire in your home because it rarely happens but rarity is not a basis of thinking that it won’t happen right at your own home. To keep things safe, you need to be prepared about several things. Reminders on how to deal with fire can be a good start for the preparation.

Teaching children fire safety is very important because they are too young to take care of themselves especially if you are away. You don’t necessarily need to be a professional in teaching children fire safety because there are simple household tips that can help keep them safe during fire.

If the children are more prepared, they will be less panicky and they will be able to deal with the problem safely. During fire, children are the ones that panic all the time because they are frightened too much.

There are simple tips in teaching children fire safety that can help you keep them on the right track and you can start it by equipping your home with the complete fire safety equipments. You need to install safety equipments in your home such as smoke detectors in all the rooms of the house.

It is important to place a smoke detector in the kitchen because fire sometimes starts in the kitchen. Tell your kids to stay calm when the smoke detector rings and try to find the best exit. You can even make a drill or try to test it so that your kids will be familiar with the sound and how to deal with it calmly.

This will be the first step in teaching children fire safety. Every once in a while, try to test if the smoke detector is still working because it may have run out of batteries and might fail you in case of fire. Optimum smoke detection is important so that you don’t miss any part of the house if there is fire.

You can also install a system alarm in your home which is directly connected to the police or the fire station directly. This is more advisable especially for kids who do not know what to do. Teach them to stay calm and press the panic button to make sure they are safe.

Teaching children fire safety is never hard as long as you know how to teach them to stay calm and think positively. Some children may have experienced fire in their earlier years which developed a certain phobia in them which is hard to mend.

These smoke gadgets are very helpful in teaching children fire safety because they will not get too frightened. You can make a drill by making the smoke detector alarm and guide your kids to the fire exit. Direct them to all the fire exits in the house and teach them to run to the nearest fire exit so that they can go out easily.

It is important that you show your kids how a fighter looks like so that they won’t get too scared when these firefighters invade your house. Children might get too frightened and may cause them to panic when they see these firefighters with their costumes and masks on.

Teaching children fire safety can be done at home and you don’t actually need to send them to trainings and activities. Teach your children how to crawl and use ladders and ropes so that they can go to the exit successfully.

Working with young children can both be fun and challenging. Guiding these youngsters gives you a better understanding that may benefit you when you have children of your own in the near future. This experience will also give you an insight into how your parents have brought you up and possibly find meaning in your relationship with them. With this type of occupation, you can certainly make a difference in someone’s life.

A series of occupation that deals with or has a connection with the education of young children are teachers, nannies, child care center organizers, families, and other children. All of them always have a hand in molding a child’s perception in life. They all teach him or her academic education, as well as basic life skills such as values, understanding, friendship, culture, traditions, and beliefs.

Another tool that can contribute to a child’s education is the computer. Though the computer is helpful, parents and guardians must see to it that the computer content is on the same wavelength as the child’s level of understanding and learning development.

In growing up, children must accomplish certain phases in their development to form a secure foundation for their future challenges in learning. Teachers, child care organizers, and parents must work together in guiding the child with their growth and development. They must see to it that the education or knowledge they impart is in tune with the child’s learning development and understanding. They must know how to tone down and simplify explanations when a child asks them a certain question.

A healthy nutrition also helps the child’s rapidly growing mind and body in motivating them to learn. Both the home and kindergarten or child care center should provide foods that are high in nutrients and energy boosters that will highly benefit the child’s mind and body.

In terms of health, members of the health care team, such as doctors and nurses, may also have a role in children’s education. Teaching them the basic knowledge about how their bodies work and about their health can be highly advantageous to a child. At an early age, they can already have a grasp on how to live healthily.

Child psychologists and/or guidance counselors may be have an additional insight to a child’s learning abilities. With their profession, a talk with the child can easily give them a critical perception whether the child is having difficulties or are stressed out with school work.

Children with disabilities, compared to normal children, would require special attention depending on their conditions. Their education is usually a mixture of learning, play, and treatment or rehabilitation. For instance, a child suffering with dyslexia needs a different kind of teaching strategy for them to learn efficiently. Children suffering with language disabilities need the help of speech therapists to curb their problems.

With the proliferation and demand of education, individuals may now find a variety of college and graduate courses that will educate and train them in the different fields of teaching young children with or without special needs. Even the common child care worker or concerned parent can now have access to the basic knowledge of teaching a certain child with special needs with the help of the Internet.

Through the help and support of parents, teachers, and other experts in child education, a child with or without special needs can now have the benefits of education and reach their full potentials.

Parents should orient their children about the importance of a mission and how they would carry it as they grow old. Children can understand its real purpose if they see it from their parents first hand. Children usually make their parents as their role models, so if they see that their parents are living their life on a mission, then the children could follow their footsteps.

There are appropriate stories, games and other materials providing information to children about translations in the bible, other countries and reasons stated in the bible about the importance of a mission. Missionary books containing the life of saints, martyrs and other religious materials could help the children develop a missionary life.

Mission can be accomplished through praying, helping a special or charity project, and supporting a missionary’s good deed. Charities are usually the best expression of a missionary work. The effects are immediately seen and felt by the less fortunate people. There are also websites in the Internet where children are encouraged to start a life of becoming a missionary.

Parents from elite families send their children to mission schools. Parents who were busy with their profession and cannot attend to their children regularly, chooses this option. They believe that mission education is the most excellent schooling arrangement for their children. Missionaries, priests or nuns usually run mission boarding schools. In an early age, children can gain knowledge about religious influences and instructions on how to respect life and live by a guiding mission of righteousness.

The children should be raised with a missionary mindset to be able to reach out to non-Christians. Some environmental factors might affect their mission if they enter school and socialize with other children. To ensure that their mission field is safe and secured, parents should know the conditions being faced by the children. Know the people who are involved with your children such as their teachers, friends, trainers and their family background.

Today, children are exposed to different issues about morality and spirituality. Parents should determine the risks being posted by these situations. Evaluate every issue and explain it to your children, never let them doubt their mission.

Interact with your children so that you could both share the same values. Raising your children to become missionaries in hostile environments could be very difficult. Parents should teach their children about trusting God within those environments.

Parents could also take their children on mission trips. This is one way of expanding their potentials about the ministry and experiences the life outside their comfort zones. Children can understand issues and problems of people in a certain community and how the church helps in uniting economic, racial and social boundaries through a guiding mission. This mission becomes a teaching event to cultivate compassion in children.

Children are able to give importance on how Christ sends his disciples to become missionaries and spread good words and good deeds to other people. Missionary trips can open the hearts of the children on other cultures, especially to minorities and poor countries. Staying by their mission of helping these people is an enormous achievement.

Whatever method you adapt, teaching your child about mission is a good option. Parents should properly guide their children so that the teachings can create an indelible mark in their hearts and passed it on to the next generations.

For a child, life is all about playing and playing. As a parent, you can make the most of these play times and get your children to learn while playing. How? Through children’s learning games.

The concept of learning while playing is the age-old technique that teachers and educators are using. Oftentimes, teachers incorporate play through what they teach so that the interest of children will be piqued. One way of doing this is by making use of children’s learning games.

Children tend to be fickle-minded and restless. In order to get them to focus, it is important that they are given something that will hole their interest for a long time.

Children’s learning games are made up of varieties.

Variety is what children’s learning games are all about. There are enough obstacles and challenges that children have to go through to be able to achieve their purpose. A puzzle can be made into a spelling test by having words spread along the path. Now all children have to do is find the right spelling of the word to be able to find an exit or another path.

Learning math can be made easier by presenting awards or prizes once a problem is solved or if the right answer is given.

Pictures can be associated with the words or meaning for it. Coloring pages can be made this way. After children have gotten the correct words, they can now color the pictures.

Children’s learning games help develop children’s mind and memories.

Majority of children’s learning games are made up of memorization of words, phrases or pictures. The thing is that children are not aware that they are memorizing these things. All they know is that they need to remember what is needed in order to go to another stage or level.

Through this, their mind and memory is developed. And the good thing is that this is being done while the children are busy enjoying themselves. One they get absorbed in the activities, they will not realize that they have learned a lot of new things that they normally do not want to.

Children’s learning games are never boring.

According to studies, children have the tendency to learn more and at the fastest time with children’s learning games compared to other forms of teaching methods.

This is the reason why many parents, as well as schools, are constantly on the search for new children’s learning games to incorporate in the children’s learning process. With the many companies that are now dealing with developing and creating more advanced children’s learning games, there can never be enough of them to give your kids.

New challenges are continuously being thought of to add to the interest that children’s learning game will give kids. The variety of enjoyable things that is in every child’s learning game is the reason why many children like to have these things around.

Children’s learning games can cater to all children.

It does not matter if your child is a boy or a girl. And it will not matter if they are more intelligent or not. These learning games for children for every child who knows how to understand and can come up with their own strategy.

If you want your kids to enjoy studying for once in their life, give them some children’s learning games and see them improve right before your eyes.

Learning is very important aspect to every child in their development and their future as civilized and productive members of the community. A lot of different resources and materials are available in the market more than ever to help them be knowledgeable about certain topics that they need to research about.

A children’s encyclopedia is one of the resources pertaining to a single book, set of books or digital versions arranged chronologically from A-Z containing information regarding various topics either on a single or multiple fields. The digital version of the encyclopedia can be searched by subject or keyword. Encyclopedia can cover all topics (general) or can focus only to a particular field of discipline such as philosophy or art (specialized).

One ideal example is the children’s encyclopedia founded by a British journalist, educator and writer, Arthur Mee. It is an eight volume encyclopedia published in London by Educational Book Company Ltd on 1908 up to early 1960′s and was expanded later on to ten volumes. This was adopted by numerous family homes in the British Empire.

The children’s encyclopedia has an unusual format which can be read from cover to cover and can be used as a traditional reference. It’s contents include factual articles, classic stories, songs, bible stories, nursery rhymes and poems.

- Nursery rhymes are traditional poems or songs being originally taught in nursery for young children. The learning process assists in vocabulary development and basic skills on counting. One example of counting nursery rhyme or game is eeny, meeny, miny, moe. It is also associated with specific actions or dances adapted from particular songs.

- Songs pertains to musical composition relatively short which can be accompanied by another musical instrument featuring words or lyrics. It can be sang either solo, duet or by a group.

- Bible stories are parables of Jews and Christians retelling some parts or events which were written in the Bible and were incorporated in spiritual instructions, religious worships of families, literature and cultural underpinnings of societies of Christians and Jews.

The children’s encyclopedia was organized to various sections such as stories, men and women, earth and its neighbors, history, animal life, wonder, familiar things, art, plant life, ourselves, picture atlas, countries, powers, ideas, literature, poetry and nursery rhymes, school lessons, things to make and do and the bible.

These sections emerge in rotation strictly and its tenth volume has traditional index used for standard work reference. The children’s encyclopedia has a written didactic tone away from the neutral point of view. The article contents reflect strong and controversial views from its contributors and editors including views on religion, blatant sexism, eugenics and offhand racism.

The children’s encyclopedia was not sold in United States initially. However it was edited for US market and was renamed The Book of Knowledge. The Grolier Company was the one who published and distributed the book. It was sold on a door to door basis and many families bought it to improve their as well as their children’s knowledge.

The encyclopedia is widely used by schools and trainings of teachers. It was generally recognized as the most influential book for several generations of Commonwealth and British children. It also became the center of study of most social historians giving them great insights on the society’s social values which created and influenced it.

Parents can shop traditionally on bookstores or use different search engines in the Internet to get the encyclopedia and compare prices. Modern children encyclopedia may come up with CD’s and other materials for viewing. This makes the learning process easy through actual demonstration.
