Childrens Rooms

A bedroom for the children is not only for lullabies and goodnights.

It is the child’s haven. A resting place whenever they are burdened with schoolwork. A sanctuary where they can dream and plan for their future. Most importantly, a bedroom is where a child can have their own private moments.

All of the above-mentioned and many others cannot be achieved if the room you have set for your child is not carefully planned and executed.

Your children are the ones who will be the occupants of the bedroom. It is common for kids to have a cluttered room. However, this can be avoided with proper planning and design. Hence it is best that you design and fix your child’s room in a way that he can enjoy solitude and have fun even with company.

The Wall

Start with the wall. Think of a color that best suits the personality of your child. Is he the sporty type who will love the different hues of blue? Is she the timid type who will settle with a soft yellow color?

Moreover, you can opt to have a designed wall. Ask your child his or her preference for a wall design. It can be an artwork or your child’s favorite cartoon character or show which you and your child can paint. Perhaps, you and your child can settle with wall decorations such as framed paintings. Another good idea is to create a collection of photos on your children’s room. You can choose different photos of your children – solo pictures, family pictures, your child and his friends’ pictures and more.

The Floor

Mull over what specific floor covering will be best for your child’s room. You can have a floor tile unless your child is responsible enough in not making any writings and scratches on it. A carpeted floor is another option. Make sure though that you let your child know of the pros and cons of having a carpeted floor.

There are still many floor design alternatives to choose from. What you need to do is consider the capability of your child to maintain a clutter free and safe floor area.

The Furniture

This is the time where you should be careful in choosing pieces of furniture for your kid’s bedroom. Make sure that you have the following:

* A bed with a comfortable mattress and other bedding materials. This is essential to every bedroom.

* A study table with good lighting suitable to keep him awake during study hours. You may want to provide him or her with other study materials such as a pencil holder, a book shelf, and a school supplies container. This is to prevent clutter and mess.

* A grooming area with mirror and different grooming containers.

* A storage container for toys, books, and other activity equipments.

* A closet. This will be utilized for his hanged or folded clothes and other garments.

* Shoe rack.

Ensure that the pieces of furniture match the floor and wall designs. Play with colors. A creative and wild imagination is what you need to help you achieve the bedroom design you want for your child. It will also be helpful if you will encourage your children to join you with their bedroom planning and designing. It will give them a sense of ownership at the same time developing their sense of creativity.
