Classical music education is not really something that parents will see in the curriculum of their children’s classes. It is a common misconception that classical music education is only for the rich. It is also a misconception that classical music education is likely to bore the children to death.
Recent studies have shown the role that music play among children. It seems that music is not only something that will delight the children’s parents once they see that their children can play one or two instrument or is having classical music on the background while they are studying.
Studies have shown that classical music help can help in the brain development of children. There have been actual tests done on those children that have taken classical music education. The result was that there was a boost in the child’s IQ by more than 40% compared to the time when the child have not been exposed to classical music.
What are some more of the advantages that classical music education can give to your children?
1. Children that are undergoing classical music education are more behaved.
In classical music education, children are required to have more focused on the notes and pitches that are being played. Since most classical music has no lyrics, children are taught to appreciate the tunes that are being played.
To be able to appreciate what is being played, children learn how to keep still and focus. If they do not do this, they will not be able to answer the questions that children have about the music.
This is in direct opposition to the more modern music that many people enjoy listening to. Aside from the noise that is incorporated in this kind of music, the meaning behind them is lost already. Most of them do not really have anything that children can learn from.
2. Classical music education is learning about the past.
Classical music is part of the past. In those days, these were the kinds of music that are popular. Most of the composers of these kinds of music are the ones that are being studied now because they are considered geniuses and their work a masterpiece.
Studying classical music can take children back in the time where there are no radios and no stereos to listen to. All that is there are pure unedited and original compositions by famous people.
It can be noted that this is one of the factors that entice many people into studying classical music education. It is a way of learning more about the past and how it played a big part in the world that people now have.
3. Classical music education really helps in the development of the brain.
It is said that those who are studying classical music tend to have a larger brain compared to those who are not. This can be attained to the motor skills that are being taught in classical music in terms of making music using only the senses and the arms or feet.
These are some of the reasons why more and more schools are putting back classical music into their education. With the way things are moving nowadays, classical music will be on their way to extinction even before other children will get to appreciate them in the future.

After reading this post, I feel that we need more and more posts like this to support our classical music, because we as music instructors or musicians should use our intelligence to lead people in our music world, to allow them to recognize that what classical music actually benefit and gift to them. At this point, I want to say that classical music education is not only for children, but also for their parents too. In my opinion, I do not believe that every parent have experienced in a classical music concert, particularly a good one, but I do believe that once the those parents realize if classical music is really good to them, even they will push their children to have a classical music education, because parents always hope that their children to have a chance to taste something valuable. Therefore, the job for our musicians or music instructors should use an effective way to introduce our classical music more and more people. Recently, I have watched a video (perhaps many people have watched it) which basically shows Benjamin Zander, a conductor of Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, that how he lead his audiences to appreciate a classical music piece. I think that this is a good beginning to make more and more people know about our classical music and it is a good example for classical music education.
Additionally, I really like the three true examples which you have listed out on your post. It is very convinced to me. Thank you for your post.
