Children love it whenever someone would read stories to them. There are different kinds of stories that parents choose to impart to their children. One type of children’s stories is the funny short stories.

Funny short stories can crack a smile into laughter that can be glued on your child’s face. His bones may even be tickled by how humorous some funny short stories are. Additionally, funny short stories can help your child take things easy with the many childhood stresses they encounter.

The Talking Mule

Let your kid’s imagination run wild with this story.

There was once a farmer who owned a mule who helps him with his farm chores. He lets the mule rest on a Sunday. However, one Sunday there is a need for the mule to work so the farmer sent his son to let the mule work. To everybody’s dismay the mule talks and frets why he is working on a Sunday. Every family member kept on asking each other whoever heard of a talking mule. Suddenly, a cat blurted out and asked them what is wrong with a talking mule.

The Fisherman and the Bear

The value of sharing is being conveyed in the story.

A fisherman always hunts for fish, however he ends up empty-handed. One day as he walks home, he saw a big black bear stealing his remaining molasses. Since the remaining molasses is the only precious thing he has, he decided to run after the bear.

The bear then caught himself in the lake. He began catching fish. He caught a lot of fishes where any fisherman would be jealous. However, he did not take all the fishes. He shared some for the fisherman to eat.

The bear’s actions and movements can tickle your child’s funny bones.

The Twist-Mouth Family

A story that will teach your child the hardships disabled people encounter since the characters in the story does not view their disability as hindrance to their goals.

There was once a family of five where four members of the family have twisted mouths and one family member has a normal mouth. He was the only family member who graduated from college. One night, after dinner the father tried to blow the candle but was not successful doing it because of his twisted mouth. The other members of the family with twisted mouth also tried blowing off the candle, but all of them failed. When the member of the family with a normal mouth blew the candle, the father dramatically informed others that the candle was blown off because of college education.

Whenever you share and read stories to your child, make sure that you explain to him the moral of the story. It is also best to ask for feedbacks so you can explain some of your child’s interpretation or understanding of the story.

To keep the story alive and fun, ensure that you alter your voice when needed. Gestures can also help you convey some of the messages that story would like to impart. You as the storyteller should also be creative so that storytelling will not only be hilarious but it will also serve as an avenue for learning.

    Hey, I read to my child every night and normal I try to read them something that has a moral and meaning or something that will get my child laughing, but not too much or I can not get them to sleep. I think the short stories you shared are great, thank you.
