Well I finished it. This is a video showcasing more recent locomotives produced since the last video. I do not plan to make any more videos on any new locomotives after this (I may still post some old nfs videos I recently found.)
I’ve gotten complaints the trains aren’t ultra detailed. Of course not or I couldn’t use them on servers! I could go way overboard on detail then do a process called ‘parenting’ (which removes lag from a prop) but I would much rather be spending time running the train than parenting it every time I respawn it.
Map name is Botmap V3 (You need Episode 2 to play on it)
I decided to test my editing skills using Fraps and Windows Movie Make (NOT recommended.) The videos are shot as if the trains are operating for some real railroad, and I happen to be the lucky cameraman.
ONE TRAIN WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD! The HLRS-2 (Near the end of the video) will be my only train I plan to allow players to download. I just need to find a proper location for this to take place.
Locomotive Descriptions.
VIDEO
1) Mikado 2-8-2. The body for this train can be found browsing the half life 2 files. I used it and built around this.
2) SD40-2. This was a most difficult locomotive to get to run smooth due to its wheel arrangement, but it does run quite well.
3) HLRS-1. This was the first attempt at building a locomotive consisting primarily of half life 2 props. I say it is a success.
4) GP40. The next upgrade from the GP38-2, this locomotive was first to feature a wired control to enable the train more freedom in its speed (from 1-58 M.P.H.)
5) GP50 and GP20. The GP50 is my latest line in GP locomotives. It features much cleaner nocollide and welding than previous locomotives, as well as a little more detail. The GP20 is my very first successful locomotive. This drive-by shows the huge contrast between my first and latest.
6) ALCO RSC-2. I always loved the old ALCO diesels, and this one is my favorite. It took me a while to figure out how to get the body shaped correctly. PHX and XQM pieces were used to create this model.
7) Dash-8. The narrow cab version of the Dash-9, this is the most powerful locomotive in the fleet. I have yet to figure out how to tackle the Wide cab version.
8)F40 PH. This was a request I saw in the other video, and I couldn’t say no. The train needs much improvement in its design, but for my first real attempt, I’m quite satisfied.
SCREENSHOTS
1) Caboose. Features stove, desk, a bed and other necessities.
2) GP-7. I had a complete version of this train before it was deleted. All that’s left is a powerless husk.
3) HLRS-2. This locomotive I am trying to make public for anyone to use. I’ve yet to find a good site for this.
4) 2-8-8-2. By far my biggest project, and ultimately canceled because the locomotive was going to consist of too many props.
5) Comparison. Lets you see the difference between the GP50, GP38-2, and the GP20.
I hope you enjoyed the video. Comment, criticize, suggest freely. Spam and flaming will be blocked/deleted.

Botmap V3
U need hl2 epesode 2 to run it
hey if any of u guys wanna play with some trains like this or just want some help on making some, add me to steam gigi5 my other steam name is =NYS= TBoy205, same accounts. Happy Railroading. I dont have as many trains as keron wolf but i have a few really nice ones. me and him are buddies, so if ya need any help ill glady give u guys some.
I could be wrong but my guess is he used PHX wheels and no collided them onto the prop and then welded them. You could probably use the physical properties tool and add “super ice” to each wheel to help them slide better. Though with the actual PHX train wheel base you can actually use spinning wheels.
Train Simulator/TRAINS/TRAINSET/(Locomotive)/SOUND
Replace (locomotive) with a train file (ex. folder SD402)
hey are the train sounds from msts
I accept your challenge
And finally part 3. Any vid linkage, written tutorial or basic explanation will be appreciated. As lag is an issue i have found whilst experimenting with lager monstrosities. For example i have made a fishing trawler which works beautifully but has a tendency to hit 40-60 with someone on board. And as a Lan gmoder i like having less then 20. And fuck anyone who says your trains lack detail, their face lacks eyes cause those are some detailed trains!
CP2. Without sounding like a total nub (example of my non nubness, made a wire train car on bm2 which had working doors complete with working lower-able windows unique on each side which remained “sealed” in motion. And of course the 88 mph obsession in gmod has resulted in me making deloreans that “travel in time” at the number of “serious shit”) parenting you say? Hows that done? Only “parenting” i know of in gmod is with the stool which welds objects to NPC/players.
Comment part 1. Wow that was truely inspiring. I love making trains and love botmap maps. On the new one i have made a very basic car (uses just a seat, roller coaster car and the 2 botmap3 sliders) because i like trying to get things going fast. 88 Miles per hour to be precise. Though i find on BM3 i hit the corners before hitting 84-85.
Dude you gotta play ingame with me please :/
I like Gmod but I’m useless at making things [I don't know how]
Will you help?
SteamID; Danelms
You need to use some recording method such as fraps or camstudio, even the source engine has it’s own recorder (I can record but I do not know how to extract those recordings-look for tutorials on that) Whatever you record on needs to be formatted by some movie editing tool (such as windows movie maker) to produce a file that youtube will recognize and upload.
There’s still a chance to run into each other on gluttony.
my new steam loco kick the ass of any other steam train i have ever built and it funished but i don’t have a good map to drive it on and i don’t know how to upload a vid of it i could show u on the gluttony surver you may remember me, J.A.F? wolfmarine
Yeah. I’m cool.
