Mother’s Refuge Passion Awards 2005

Our mission is to shelter and educate homeless pregnant and parenting young women by providing comprehensive services that empower them to make successful life decisions for themselves and their babies. Mother’s Refuge provides shelter, access to medical care, counseling, case management, food, clothing, and transportation to the teens we serve. Our program also includes classes on childbirth, parenting, nutrition, cooking, healthy relationships, adoption awareness, money management, and other essential life skills. The young mothers and their babies may stay for up to one year after the baby is born. Mother’s Refuge assists them in finding a safe home, accessing community resources, and making a successful transition back into the community. Mother’s Refuge maintains contact with the new mothers through the Transitional Aftercare program for at least one year. As a non-profit organization, Mother’s Refuge relies on the monetary support of individuals, businesses, churches, civic groups, and foundations. Mother’s Refuge also welcomes volunteers to donate their time, services or expertise.
