Parenting the children single handedly is a difficult situation in life. Especially when the child is in his or her teens, there comes a time when the misunderstandings create bridges and spaces among the children and the parents. Making the choices in life during this time is another thing in life. Taking the situation in the mind and understanding the seriousness is quite necessary. One should keep the faith and go on to make the most of the time that he or she has with the teens. Talking to them and understanding the things that disturb them the most is necessary. Understanding the children and the norms that they are not comfortable with is what is necessary.
The blame game:
The parents should understand the situations and should have the interactive sessions with the teen. The single parents should not be harsh on the children or like the normal teen mentality the teens would even take up the suggestions in the negative sense. The single parent faces a lot of problems even financially. Making the child understand the need of the situation is imperative so that the teens know about the hardships and help connect with the parent. Talking to the teen about the actual situations that the parent faces can help. But having ugly conversations about the past and the ex partner can give the teen wrong impression in the childs mind. Getting the other family members involved in solving the problems between the child and the single parent can create even more differences. Hence, the parent must take the whole situation cool and calm and wait for the right moment to talk it out with the child. Saying the right thing at the right moment can work in favor of your relation with the child. The teens often need their space, especially when there’s just a single parent; there are chances that the teen would want to boss over the parent emotionally and mentally. Make your child get closer to you emotionally. By talking to the child about his strengths and discussing the weakness can help in a positive manner.
